Seeding Healing Futures: A Gift from ERE

Hello Reader,

At Education for Racial Equity, we believe in the profound power of gifts and the transformative potential they hold within communities. Our commitment to generosity of spirit extends beyond our offerings—it's woven into the very fabric of our organization.

Your financial contributions to participate in our transformative courses are not just investments in your personal growth; they are seeds being sown into the past, present, and future of our collective journey.

After covering our operational costs, all post-production funds are gifted to projects like Ekta Mahila Manch, both here on Turtle Island and across the globe. This remarkable organization embodies the spirit of community empowerment and social justice, making tangible differences in the lives of those they serve.

We extend our deepest gratitude to each one of you for your unwavering support and commitment to healing the flow of money within our communities. Together, we are seeding healed futures, nurturing environments where equity, justice, and liberation thrive.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we're making a difference.

Empowering Blossoms: A Tale of Two Movements

In the lush fields of the Southern United States and the vibrant landscapes of India, two remarkable movements blossomed, each nurturing the growth of young girls and women.

Despite being separated by time and geography, the Tomato Clubs of the early Southern U.S. and Ekta Mahila Manch, an organization working on behalf of women's rights for over 20 years, in present-day India share a common thread of empowerment, education, and community.

In the early 20th century, Tomato Clubs emerged in the Southern U.S., providing a platform for girls between the ages of twelve and eighteen to cultivate essential life skills.

Fast forward to today, and Ekta Mahila Manch stands tall, sowing the seeds of independence among women in India.

ERE was fortunate enough to contribute to this important work through gift.

Both movements speak to the transformative power of education, encouraging girls to step into roles of leadership to build confidence.

As we celebrate the resilience and courage displayed by the young girls and women of Ekta Mahila Manch, let us recognize the parallels between the two inspiring movements.

They remind us that empowerment knows no bounds, transcending time and geography.

Both stories underscore the impact of education, encouragement, and collaboration towards building a more equitable future.

2024 Offerings

In times of unrest, our commitment to healing, both individually and collectively, becomes paramount. We are thrilled to announce the commencement of two transformative courses, offering spaces for communal growth and exploration.

April 6, 2024, marks the beginning of Kai Cheng Thom's groundbreaking course, "Revolutionary Love & Radical Praxis: The Loving Justice Lab." Get ready to begin on this journey of radical love and transformative praxis like never before.

Registration is now open for Kai Cheng Thom's course, as well as "The Somatics of Whiteness: An Embodied Anti-Racist Intensive for White Community Members." These spaces are open to all, and we can't wait to welcome you into our community of learners and change-makers!

We believe that healing and learning should be accessible to everyone. That's why we offer various payment options, including payment plans, partial scholarships, and full scholarships. As no one should be excluded from the journey of transformation.

Join us as we create spaces for healing, growth, and collective liberation. We can make a difference, together.

Revolutionary Love & Radical Praxis: The Loving Justice Lab

Facilitated by Kai Cheng Thom

Join movement mediator, author, and somatic coach Kai Cheng Thom for an experiential, experimental intensive in the practice of her Loving Justice methodology for personal growth and conflict transformation. This course is a “learning lab” that combines video and live lectures on conflict transformation-related content with embodied conversation, practice and group process. Using embodied and creative facilitation techniques, Kai Cheng will guide participants through a powerful and emergent process focused on generating collective intelligence about how we can create a paradigm of radical love in social justice spaces.

This experiential process is intended for experienced activists who have at least three years’ experience of direct participation in social change movements (“direct participation” is self-defined and can encompass a wide spectrum of community, volunteer, and/or professional roles). Experience as organizers, facilitators, mediators, coaches, and other practitioners of personal growth or collective change work is strongly encouraged.

April 6, 7, 20, & 21, 2024

9am-2pm PST / 12pm-5pm EST each day

*Scholarships are available – option to apply is in the registration form.

The Somatics of Whiteness: An Embodied Anti - Racist Intensive for White Community Members

with Carlin Quinn & special guest appearance by Jennifer-Lee Koble

Have you ever wondered why it was difficult to create deep meaningful relationships cross-culturally? Do you notice relational challenges and dynamics in cross-cultural relationships that are not there in your relationships with white people? Have you ever wondered how you might be unknowingly and unintentionally perpetrating whiteness and white supremacist cultural standards into mixed spaces at work, school or other places or in your community?

Through these four days we will come to experience the way whiteness moves through us energetically, relationally, and communally – And the impact these patterns can have on bodies of culture / BIPOC.

This course is a four-day intensive and will be offered multiple times in 2024:

June 28 - July 1, 2024

9am-1pm PST / 12pm-4pm EST each day September 20 - 23, 2024

9am-1pm PST / 12pm-4pm EST each day

*Partial scholarships are available – option to apply is in the registration form.

Empowering Change: Transformative Initiatives by ERE

ERE's commitment to embodying change extends beyond our external mission—it's woven into the very fabric of our internal workings. Weekly team meetings exemplify our dedication to fostering a work environment that transcends the conventional, embracing a holistic approach that values each team member as an individual and as an integral part of a collective journey.

We recognize the importance of building a community within our own ranks. Each week, we gather for a team meeting that transcends the typical corporate structure. The meeting kicks off with personal check-ins, setting the tone for a meeting that goes beyond the professional and delves into the personal.

This is what I shared:

This practice serves as a powerful tool for understanding and working with the ebb and flow of energy in our lives.

If you or someone you love is interested in understanding more about the work of embodied anti-racism, we invite you to join us in April for Revolutionary Love & Radical Praxis: The Loving Justice Lab or in June for The Somatics of Whiteness: An Embodied Anti - Racist Intensive for White Community Members.
